Friends -
It has been an honor to serve the people of the 61st Ohio House District for the past two years as your state representative. I have been working vigorously to make your voices and opinions heard in Columbus on a variety of issues during the 127th General Assembly. I have enjoyed working closely with fellow Democrats, Republicans, and Governor Ted Strickland on key issues such as the state budget, capital improvement bill, extending concealed carry rights, preserving personal property rights, and improving the moral fabric of our communities.
As your state representative, I have also recently secured $500,000 for improvements to the historic McCook House in Carrollton and another $250,000 to improve the public park system in Alliance. Both of these projects are in dire need of funds to keep them in operation and with this money from the capital budget they will continue to provide important services for all to enjoy.
My term as state representative has been filled with many challenges and rewards. I have always kept you, the honest and hard working people of the 61st district, in mind when casting every vote that came to the floor of the Ohio House of Representatives. I have strived to be that independent voice that I promised to be when I ran for office in 2006 and I believe that my voting record and willingness to work with people from both sides of the isle has been the fulfillment of that promise. With your continued support I will be privileged to return for a second term as your state representative.
Best wishes,

Mark Okey
Democratic Candidate for 61st Ohio House District
